Behold the amazing, beauteous beautifulness of these bookmarks. (You might want to click on them to view them in their full, slightly-bigger-than-finished-size glory. Or you might not. It’s your decision. I’m not the boss of you.)
I’m having them made to give away as sweeteners at various forthcoming signing/literary events. One free with every copy bought and autographed.
The gentleman responsible is Greg McCalium, whose work may be found here and here.
Hi Mr Lovegrove! Just wanted to say thanks for signing my copies of THE STUFF OF NIGHTMARES and THE THINKING ENINE. I’ve just finished reading them both, and they are fantastic reads.
Thank you in particular for writing Watson like early Conan Doyle, brave and smart, and not the later character who barely had a braincell!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed the books.
I’m trying constantly to make Watson a more rounded and more heroic character whenever I write him. Even as a kid I disliked intensely the way Nigel Bruce played him, in the Basil Rathbone movies, as a blithering idiot. I’d read the books and knew better. What many seem to forget is that Watson is a doctor and an ex-soldier who has seen action, meaning he is both smart and has great physical courage. Okay, so he’s not in the Holmes league when it comes to brain power, but then who is?
Mind you, my small contribution to the canon is that I’ve given him a fear of dogs — but then after The Hound of the Baskervilles, you can hardly blame him for that, can you?
